Financial
Our client is now looking for an experienced Financial Controller to cover maternity leave until March 2018.
This position will be based at our clients Chelmsford office.
Role:
-To ensure all statutory and company tax filings for the group are made within deadlines.
-To ensure monthly management accounts are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
-To support the completion of the annual budget process (including cash-flow and balance sheets)
-To manage the financial accounting transactional team
-To act as a sounding board to the Group on financial, accounting and legal matters.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
•To ensure the group’s statutory and legal obligations are met.
•To liaise with the auditors, manage the year-end audit process and prepare the annual accounts for all group companies.
•To ensure all company tax returns, including VAT and Intrastat, are submitted on a timely and accurate basis.
•Provide timely information to support completion of consolidated group US tax returns.
•To ensure suitable and adequate year-end information is received from all non-UK based subsidiaries, Joint Ventures and Associate companies.
•To ensure the Group Accounting Policies and Accounting Disclosures are in accordance with the appropriate Accounting Standards.
•To ensure all pension scheme annual accounts are prepared and are consistent with Group accounting records; and co-ordinate FRS 17 disclosures with actuaries.
•To manage any requirements for information from third parties and prepare reports as may be required e.g. Norwegian Branch Accounts.
Management Reporting
•To support the preparation of the annual budget for the Group, including the cash-flow and balance sheet budgets.
•To ensure the monthly consolidated group management accounts and accompanying disclosures are completed accurately in accordance with US GAAP and submitted to NYSE listed parent company in within agreed published deadlines.
•To maintain a financial model (profits, cash-flow, and balance sheets) to facilitate forecasting and monitoring of the Group results, including liaison with the Finance Manager for cash-flow forecasts.
•To co-ordinate the information received from Joint Venture and Associate companies, post to IFS, monitor and manage reporting of results.
Financial Processing
•To manage and co-ordinate the services between GMSL and GMSGL Limited.
•To monitor the value and volume of entries in the GRNI account.
•To review bad debt provisions and any adjustments from FRS 17 pension shortfalls
•To monitor and understand the effects of foreign exchange adjustments within the financial statements of the group.
Staff Management
•Management of the Financial Reporting and Processing team, including recruitment, training guidance and technical advice where necessary. The assessment of the team performance should be in accordance with the established companies performance review process, providing objectives, monitoring performance, completing reviews and gradings.
•Ensuring the teams are adequately resourced to meet deadlines.
Other
•Working with the Finance Director, IFS Systems Accountant & Financial Transactions Manager to maintain and develop the financial systems and procedures of the Group.
•Ensure all processes comply with SOX guidelines.
•Support interim and annual SOX audits.
•You may be requested to carry out supplementary duties or other duties not defined in this Job Description at various times as requested by the Company in order to ensure the smooth running of the department, or during periods of sickness, holidays or high volume of work.
Experience / Qualifications:
Educated to degree level or equivalent
ACA / ACCA / CIMA Qualified
5 – 10 years post qualification experience
Good communication skills
IT literate with knowledge of IFS a distinct advantage
Ability to develop reasonably complex financial models using Excel
Experience in shipping or large construction contracts would be useful
Knowledge of iXBRL is an advantage
The salary will be £80,000pa pro rata.
